Seekonk Powers Up First Municipal Solar Installation
On September 23rd, 2010 Seekonk made a piece of its own history by officially powering up the Town's first municipal solar PV installation at the Department of Public Works garage at 871 Taunton Avenue (Route 44). The 31 kilowatt, 150 panel solar array is expected to generate nearly all the electricty used by the Public Works building.
The solar array was paid for with two grants - a Clean Energy Choice grant made possible by Seekonk residents "greening up" on their electric bills and a competitive statewide Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant with ARRA stimulus funds.
