You may not have to pay a portion of this invoice if you qualify for a hardship or elderly exemption due to income limitations as filed through the Board of Assessors Office under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 18 or Clause 41C. The exemption must be for the same fiscal year as the annual trash bill. If your request for exemption is granted (on your 2023 real estate bill), you will automatically qualify for the disposal hardship exemption (on your 2023 disposal bill). Payment of 50% of the bill is required upon the due date. Questions regarding the hardship or elderly exemption should be directed to the Assessor's Office at 508-336-2980.
