The Town Clerk's Office is the place to file a DBA (doing business as) Business Certificate. The State of Massachusetts requires a business operating in a Massachusetts city or town to file a business certificate in the Town Clerk's Office unless the business is incorporated or the surname of the owner is in the name of the business. A DBA is simply a consumer protection device so that the owner of a business is on file in the Clerk's office. The fee for a DBA is $25 and is good for four years.
If you have a new business (home or commercial) or are moving your business to Seekonk, you must contact the Town's Building / Zoning Department 508-336-2990. This is your initial step in this process.
