Department History

Seekonk Police Department has served the community well from its inception in 1945 to the present day under the direction of eight police chiefs. The Police Department has remained on the cutting edge of technology with a radio dispatch police car in 1948 from the basement of the Town Hall, to a present day Public Safety Complex housing police, fire and communications.

From a staff of one Police Chief and one Patrolman in 1945, today's Police Department boasts over 10 divisions that provide police services to the community. Our current facility provides an Emergency Operating Center (E.O.C.), training rooms, storage space and offices in sufficient numbers for the department, as it performs its daily operations. The Department remains diligent today, protecting citizens and businesses in the Town of Seekonk.
